Federal Carbon Tax – 2024 Update

The Federal Government, through its Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, charges a carbon tax on all fuel consumed in Canada.

Below are the new carbon tax rates by province for products McDougall Energy sells. These rates come into effect April 1, 2024.

Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba

  • Propane: 12.38 cents per litre (compared to 10.06 cents per litre the previous year).
  • Gasoline: 17.61 cents per litre (compared to 14.31 cents per litre the previous year).
  • Diesel: 21.39 cents per litre (compared to 17.38 cents per litre the previous year).
  • Kerosene: 20.65 cents per litre (compared to 16.78 cents per litre the previous year).

British Columbia

  • Propane: 12.38 cents per litre (compared to 10.06 cents per litre the previous year).
  • Gasoline: 17.61 cents per litre (compared to 14.31 cents per litre the previous year).
  • Diesel: 20.74 cents per litre (compared to 16.85 cents per litre the previous year).
  • Kerosene: 20.65 cents per litre (compared to 16.78 cents per litre the previous year).
