McDougall Energy Donates $3000 to Thessalon Lions Club to Help Fill Christmas Hampers
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario – December 19, 2019: McDougall Energy Inc. is pleased to donate $3000 to the Thessalon Lions Club to help fill Christmas Cheer Hampers for well-deserving families and individuals in the community.
Every year, the Lions Club prepares Christmas Cheer Hampers that contain everything needed to enjoy a Christmas dinner, including a turkey or ham, bag of potatoes, milk, and canned goods. On December 18, the Christmas Hampers were delivered to 43 individuals and families from the Thessalon Township and Thessalon First Nation communities.
“This holiday season is for many a very joyful time of the year, a time when family and friends celebrate the bountifulness and dedications of their lives. Yet, for some, hardships have touched their lives, making it difficult for them at this time of the year. For 68 years, the Lions of Thessalon have sponsored a Christmas concert to provide cheer food baskets to those in need. The community has once again graciously contributed by donating over $1800, plus food and their time,” said Fred Falls, Thessalon Lions Club President. “Corporate sponsors have always actively supported the Thessalon Lions. Today, I would like to thank McDougall Energy for the most generous gift of $3000 for the Christmas cheer food baskets. The Lions wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday.”
The Hampers cost approximately $50 each, which is why donations and community support are essential to ensure that there are enough Hampers for everyone in need. With the help of hardworking community volunteers, the Lions Club presented its annual Christmas concert on December 9, 2019. The concert is typically the largest source of support and free-will donation annually, and the proceeds of the concert go directly to assisting with the cost of the Christmas Cheer Hampers. Throughout the year, some additional fundraisers help contribute to the Christmas Hampers fund, such as a dance, summer raffle, and community dinners.
