McDougall Energy acquires Dowler-Karn Limited and retains Platinum Club membership with Canada’s Best Managed Companies
- McDougall Energy acquires Dowler-Karn Limited and its fuels, propane, and lubricant business based in St. Thomas, Ontario. Dowler-Karn now operates as A Division of McDougall Energy Inc.
- McDougall Energy requalifies as a Platinum Club member with Canada’s Best Managed Companies, having consecutively retained its designation since 2011.

McDougall Energy completes four acquisitions, including Rosen Energy, Vieira Fuels, Robo Tech Fabricating Inc., and Dodsley Propane; expands Auto market into Manitoba as an Esso-branded Wholesaler.
- McDougall Energy acquires and integrates Rosen Energy and its liquid fuel distribution and full-service HVAC business based in Kingston, ON.
- McDougall Energy acquires and integrates Vieira Fuels and its liquid fuel distribution and full-service HVAC business based in Hamilton, ON.
- McDougall Energy acquires and integrates Robo Tech Fabricating Inc., a design manufacturing and service garage for the energy tanker industry in London, ON.
- McDougall Energy acquires Dodsley Propane and its residential and commercial propane business based in Tillsonburg, ON. Dodsley Propane now operates as A Division of McDougall Energy Inc.
- McDougall Energy’s auto team expands into Manitoba as a trusted Esso-branded Wholesaler.

McDougall Energy acquires Edward Fuels Inc. and associated companies; expands Auto market into Saskatchewan as an Esso-branded Wholesaler.
- McDougall Energy acquires Edward Fuels Limited and associated companies, Manitoulin Fuels Limited and Petroline Petroleums.
- Edward Fuels and Manitoulin Fuels are multi-channel distributors and marketers of Shell-branded products, including fuels and lubricants, and provide HVAC services and solutions.
- Petroline, now integrated into McDougall Energy, is a multi-site retail gas and convenience store business.
- Edward Fuels and Manitoulin Fuels each operate as A Division of McDougall Energy Inc. in their respective regions.
- McDougall Energy’s auto team expands into Alberta as a trusted Esso-branded Wholesaler.

McDougall Energy acquires Superior Petro Fuels of St. Catharines, ON; signs a Branded Wholesaler agreement with Husky in Ontario and British Columbia; achieves Platinum Club status with Canada’s Best Managed Companies, having retained its designation for 7 years
- McDougall Energy acquires Superior Petro Fuels and its home heating oil, commercial fuels, and lubricant business based out of St. Catharines, Ontario.
- McDougall Energy signs a Branded Wholesaler Agreement with Husky Energy, giving the Company the right to sell Husky branded retail petroleum products in Ontario and British Columbia.
- McDougall Energy achieves Platinum Club status with Canada’s Best Managed Companies program by retaining its Best Managed designation for seven consecutive years.

McDougall Energy acquires Davis Fuels of Burford, ON and Pepco Corp. of Owen Sound, ON; signs agreement to carry Circle K convenience store brand
- McDougall Energy acquires Davis Fuels and its residential, commercial, and industrial fuel supply, delivery, distribution, and dispensing business based in Burford, ON. The Company also acquired Davis Fuels’ Independent Petroleum Network (IPN) cardlock and retail gas stations across Southern Ontario. Davis Fuels now operates as A Division of McDougall Energy Inc.
- McDougall Energy acquires and integrates Pepco Corp. and its home heat, commercial fuels, and lubricants business based in Owen Sound, ON, as well as its cardlock locations.
- McDougall Energy signs a Broker Sales Agreement with Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. (“ACT”), bringing the internationally recognized Circle K brand to the Company’s retail and convenience store offering.

2014 to 2016
McDougall Energy grows its Corporate Retail and Convenience store market, opening seven stations across Ontario
- McDougall Energy began operating two Shell gas stations and convenience locations in Sault Ste. Marie
- Three new Esso gas stations and convenience stores were opened across Ontario in Blind River, Nairn Centre, and Thunder Bay.
- McDougall Energy acquires an Esso-branded retail location in Carleton Place, ON.

McDougall Energy becomes the exclusive Mobil Branded Distributor in regions of northeastern ON; acquires Doug Chalmers Inc. (Chalmers Fuels), and opens a new Esso gas station and convenience store in Sault Ste. Marie, ON
- Imperial Oil names McDougall Energy the exclusive Mobil Branded Distributor in Sudbury, North Bay, Barrie and the surrounding area.
- McDougall Energy acquires the fuel, service, and lubricant delivery business of Doug Chalmers Inc. (Chalmers Fuels) in Peel region.
- A new corporately owned Esso gas station and convenience store are opened in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

McDougall Energy acquires Wardlaw Fuels (Algoma) Inc.’s fuel and delivery business in Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District
- McDougall Energy enters an agreement with Imperial Oil to purchase its Heating Oil and Commercial Fuels Agency businesses located in Wawa, Sudbury, and North Bay, ON.
- McDougall Energy acquires Wardlaw Fuels (Algoma) Inc.’s fuel and lubricant delivery business in Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District, as well as one retail gas station and convenience store

McDougall Energy becomes an Imperial Oil heating oil and commercial fuels distributor across regions of Ontario, and is recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the first time
- McDougall Energy enters an agreement with Imperial Oil to purchase its Heating Oil and Commercial Fuels Agency businesses located in south and southwestern Ontario (St. Catharines and St. George) and north and east of Toronto (Newmarket and Bowmanville).
- McDougall Energy acquires and integrates Iberic Oil Fuels of Concord, ON, enabling the Company to enter the commercial wheel-to-wheel fuelling market.
- McDougall Energy is recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the first time

McDougall Energy Inc. moves its Corporate Head Office to Station Tower in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, expands product lines for business customers, and establishes Pump brand

- McDougall Energy begins operations of Can-Op and Swipe Pay-and-Go auto retailers in Northwest and Central Ontario.
- McDougall Energy expands product lines for business markets, including the introduction of fuels, lubricants, and specialty products.
- McDougall Energy establishes Pump, a proprietary retail station offer for the Auto Market in Ontario and British Columbia.

McDougall Fuels is rebranded as McDougall Energy Inc
- McDougall Fuels changes its corporate name to McDougall Energy Inc. to reflect the growth of the company and the direction for the future.
- The Company expands in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and British Columbia, offering home heating solutions and adding a new Auto Market territory, respectively.

- McDougall Fuels acquires Rankin Fuels in Thessalon and ICG Propane in Blind River, adding propane to the business lines of McDougall.

McDougall Fuels transitions to the third generation of family ownership
- Darren, Jennifer, and Chris McDougall, children of Bryan and Joy, purchase McDougall Fuels and take over ownership of the company.
- McLeod Fuels is acquired and integrated into McDougall’s operations in Sault Ste. Marie

McDougall Fuels expands to Chapleau, ON
- McDougall Fuels purchases the Esso agency in Chapleau from Imperial Oil.
- O’Riley Fuels in Chapleau was acquired and integrated with McDougall Fuels’ existing Chapleau agency in 1996

Texaco Home Comfort in Sault Ste. Marie is integrated into McDougall Fuels
- The Texaco Home Comfort business was integrated into McDougall Fuels.

1987 to 1989
McDougall Fuels becomes an Esso-branded Reseller, expanding operations to Sault Ste. Marie, Elliot Lake, and along the North Shore
- McDougall Fuels purchases Esso agencies from Imperial Oil along the North Shore and Sault Ste. Marie, followed by Elliot Lake the subsequent year.

McDougall Fuels enters the second generation of family ownership
- Allan retires after 23 years of service in the industry.
- Bryan and his wife, Joy, take over ownership of McDougall Fuels. In the year following, McDougall Fuels doubles in size by amalgamating with the Esso agency in Blind River.

McDougall Fuels expands into the home heating market
- Allan and Lucy’s son, Bryan, becomes a burner service agent and an Esso associate, introducing home heating to the company’s portfolio.

McDougall Fuels opens in Thessalon, ON, representing first-generation ownership
- Allan McDougall leverages his experience working for Imperial Oil and establishes McDougall Fuels with his wife, Lucy, becoming the regional Esso agent in Thessalon, Ontario.
