McDougall Energy Donates $10,000 to Christmas Cheer

McDougall Energy hopes to brighten the holidays for local children, families, and individuals with a $10,000 donation to Christmas Cheer via the Sault Star Santa Fund. The donation will support Christmas Cheer as it provides gift baskets to community members in need.

As demand continues to grow, Christmas Cheer co-convener Diane Marshall is all the more thankful for the “overwhelming generosity of the local community”. Various local events and fundraisers have been held to help supply toys, gift cards, and other items, like hand-knit hats and mitts for gift baskets. “We are very thankful for the support of our generous community.”

Christmas Cheer has been operating in Sault Ste. Marie and area since the 1960s. The organization is supported by local volunteers, community stakeholders, and donors who graciously offer their time and resources to collect, organize, and distribute gift baskets to recipients in preparation for the holiday season. Monetary donations are managed by the Sault Star Santa Fund, which helps the organization purchase gift cards, hygiene products, and other items for gift baskets.

This year, Christmas Cheer is expected to support over 2,000 households from Batchewana to Bruce Mines.

Christmas Cheer is among 37 charities and non-profit organizations that McDougall Energy has donated to this holiday season.

“McDougall Energy is built on the communities we operate in. This holiday, we’ve worked with our team members across Ontario to give back to worthwhile charities and organizations that are dedicated to alleviating financial stress and food insecurity over the holiday season. Our donation is a small contribution compared to the ongoing work the charities and their volunteers are doing for members within their communities,” says Darren McDougall, President of McDougall Energy.
